In Uttarakhand Department of education has a unified structure covering basic education, secondary education,State council of education researchand training, Uttarakhand board of school education and exams are working under the umbrella of Directorate of School Education . A project for universalisation of elementry education, SSA and literacy mission are running under Uttarakhand Sabhi ke Liye Shiksha Parisad.
